August 2019 our President Autumn Little was given a remarkable opportunity to pilot a Refugee brigade in Greece, on behalf of UNC Charlotte . Speaking about her experience she wrote, “When coming to college I knew I was always passionate about traveling and helping people, but I never thought I would be sent to another country by my university (more specifically my academic college) to do everything I truly love. 11 campus leaders from 11 different universities from 4 different countries came together to not only serve the beautiful people in the Ritsona refugee camp, but also to determine its viability as a program. At this time the Ritsona camp currently houses 854 people from nations all over the globe. As refugees they are not able to get jobs, they aren’t in their home countries , and they don’t have a secure place to call their own.The Greece brigades are like no other, but WE as a people need to step in and help as much as we can. Thank you to Global Brigades and the College of Health and Human Services at UNC Charlotte for seeing the change that is needed and taking a step to be apart of it. 11 leaders, 4 countries, 1 world ."
